Vera Blue, a.k.a. Celia Pavey, is pure immaculate talent. No doubt about it. The 22 y.o. Aussie singer, ranked third in the 2013 edition of The Voice of Australia and since that day Pavey showed the world what she’s made of. Talent. Folk talent more precisely.
After a stunning performance of Simon and GarfunkelScarboroughFair which introduced her to all the Australian public, Celia Pavey has published under her real name a 2013 EP called This Music which assured her a spot in top Oceania’s charts. However, in late 2015 Pavey decided to switch on a more dark side of folk with eerie sounds, which kinda reminds me of Ellie Goulding‘s Halcyone, by using the name of Vera Blue.
Settle is the perfect example of this new dark folk quality. And indeed it didn’t take long for this drowsy lullaby to find an international audience — peaking at number 5 on the US Spotify viral top 50 chart. Settle is dark and brooding, with a very organic vibe. Melancholy piano fuels the song together with delicate synths that add depth and texture to the whole track.
Keep an eye on this girl folks. Vera Blue will become really someone. Enjoy Settle.
In less than two months the 2016 edition of the Euro Vision Song Contest will open its doors to the European most talented artists on the music scene. This year the EVSC will be held in Sweden after the 2015 win of Måns Zelmerlöw.
Since last year the EVSC decided to invite also Australia to attend this awesome musical banquet. Not a wise choice i.m.o. The Aussies indeed decided to proclaim 2013 X Factor winner Dami Im as their ambassadress in the old continent.
Dami Im is simply awesome. 170 cm of pure energy, talent and class. Her version of Prince‘s Purple Rain travelled all around the globe during her X Factor journey with Dannii Minogue. After many hits like Super Love and Gladiator in her homeland, the petite Aussie-Korean bomb will show to Europe what she’s made of with the Sound of Silence.
The track has literally everything it takes to become an anthem. Perfect eerie background matched with soft drums let Dami‘s voice starts this love song about distance and loneliness which culminates with a powerful chorus that will awake even the most distracted listeners.
It’s still to early to say something about the competition, but watch out Europe…Australia is ready to play one of her best cards. Enjoy Dami in the Sound Of Silence.
I am so happy that Delta Goodrem‘s official comeback has been announced in these days! For those of you who don’t know this huge Australian singer, just note that she’s only one little step below Kylie in Australia most successful artists of all time, her Innocent Eyes is the most sold EP in Australia history, and plus…she’s only 30. Amazing.
Appearing as one of the judges of the 2015 edition of The Voice of Australia (together with Jessie J, Ricky Martin and the Madden Bros), Delta is planning to make fire and flames with her return on stage. The comeback chosen song is Wings. The track is a catchy up tempo colored with a catchy-sounding orchestra, something different than Delta‘s previous style but in my opinion not inconsistent with her musical direction.
The song has everthing it takes to become a huge hit in Australia and it’s such a pity that the label behind Goodrem doesn’t even want to try to let her roll in Europe or in the US. While waiting for the official Wings video, enjoy the track on SC below. Enjoy!
